Accurate census information allows us to understand Black Hawk County’s demographics so we can better determine our healthcare needs. Our county requires federal funding for Medicare, Medicaid, individual state health plans, military health care, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, aid for people without health insurance, disability services, fertility programs, and the expenses and investments made by health care facilities.

A full count means that Black Hawk County health services can make plans for the next 10 years. Two huge Health and Human Services (HHS) programs depend on Census-related data to determine where to allocate the funding:

Medical Assistance Program (approximately $300 billion)

Medicare Part B Physicians Fee Schedule Services (approximately $70 billion)
